Why did these people make such a big deal out of it?

OK so I had to go to buy groceries and I was in a hurry and in no mood for carrying my 6 month old daughter in with me and anyways it was just some milk, eggs, bread, hot dogs, hamburger meat, hamburger helper, dog food, soda, toilet paper, yogurt and a few other items I needed to get. So one of the windows in my car is out and I have it covered with some plastic. I guess it was a bit chilly out today but not that far below freezing and so when I came out a few minutes later people were yelling at me and threatening and upset and all. I guess they heard her crying inside shes a grumpy baby. Can they really complain about me? I wasn't even gone more than 20 minutes.
