Problems with transition to a sippy cup..?

My daughter is 11 months old and just getting the idea of getting liquid out of it. We are using the Nuby and the harder Gerber combined. At 9-10 month she would be content with just sitting there and chewing on the nipple. I think it's more the age than even an understanding of the concept. I would say just give him time and he'll learn it.
